Andong is a city in North Gyeongsang Province. It has played a central role in the administration, transportation, education and economy of Gyeongsang Province for a long time. In Joseon period, it was the second largest city in Gyeongsang Province, designated as “Andong Daedohobu(大都護府)”. Andong is a city of history and culture with well-preserved cultural properties like temple and Seowon.

Dosan Seowon
Dosan Seowon is to commemorate Toe-gye Lee Hwang, Korea's Confucian scholar. He set up Dosan Seodang in 1561 for study and discipline. After his death, his disciples decided to establish Seowon where Seodang was placed. A carved tablet was written by Han Ho(韓濩), famous calligrapher of the times.
Hahoe Village
This village is known for hometown of Gyeoman Ryu Un-ryong, Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong. The Ryu clan of Pungsan has been living here for a long time, comprising a one-clan community. The name “Hahoe” comes from changing shape of the Nakdong River in this region, which runs surrounding this village. Hahoe Mask Dance Drama (“Byeolsin-gut”) and Hahoe Mask are famous from the village. The whole village is designated as an important folk material.
